Find Your Hocking County Polling Place, and What If It Moved

On Election Day you must vote at the polling place assigned to your precinct. Hocking County groups its precincts into a handful of shared locations, and some have changed in recent years. Here is how to be sure where you are going.

Key takeaways

Ohio assigns every voter to a precinct based on their home address, and each precinct has one Election Day polling place. In Hocking County, several precincts often share a building. Knowing your exact location matters: Ohio law does not count a provisional ballot cast at the wrong polling location.

Step 1: Look up your polling place

Use either official tool. Both search the county's voter records:

Enter your name or address as registered. The result shows your precinct name (for example, "Green 1" or "Logan 3") and the polling location address. If the lookup cannot find you, check your registration with the voter lookup or call the board at (740) 380-8683.

Step 2: Check it against the current location list

The board's polling locations list shows these assignments. The list is dated June 2024, so always confirm with the lookup tool or the board before Election Day in case anything has changed since.

Recent changes to know

The board's list notes that the Laurelville Senior Center is a newer polling place for Laurelville-area precincts, and that the Hocking Hills Retreat Center is the same site formerly called the Logan Conference Center. If you last voted years ago, your location may not be where you remember.

Step 3: Check for last-minute changes

Polling places occasionally move because of construction, weather or building availability. Boards are required to notify affected voters, but notices can be missed. In the days before Nov. 3:

Moved recently?

The registration deadline for Nov. 3 was Oct. 5. If you moved and did not update your registration:

Ohio law lists these change-of-address situations among the reasons a voter casts a provisional ballot (R.C. 3505.181).

What if you go to the wrong place?

This is where people lose their votes. Ohio treats two mistakes differently (R.C. 3505.183):

SituationWhat happens to a provisional ballot cast there
Right location, wrong precinct table (several precincts share the building)If the poll worker did not properly direct you to the correct precinct, the board can count your votes for every race and issue you were eligible to vote on.
Wrong location altogetherNot counted.

If a poll worker tells you that you are at the wrong location, ask for the correct address and go there before 7:30 p.m. That is far better than casting a provisional ballot that will not be counted. If you cannot make it in time, a provisional ballot at the wrong location still will not count, so try to call the board for guidance first.

Shared buildings

At locations with more than one precinct, such as the Hocking Hills Retreat Center, make sure you check in at the right table. Poll workers will help, but knowing your precinct name speeds things up.

Accessibility

Every polling place must be accessible to voters with disabilities, and every location has accessible voting equipment. Voters who cannot enter the building can ask about curbside voting, where poll workers bring a ballot out to the voter. For questions about a specific site, contact the board ahead of time. See the board's accessibility page.

Our voter guides cover ID, the ballot and what to expect, and the How to Vote section on our homepage links to every official tool.
